2023-2024 Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy

The Burnet Middle School Cell Phone policy is the same as last year. From 7:30 a.m. until 3:37 p.m., students are not allowed to have out or access cell phones, smart watches, gaming devices and/or airpods. Students will need to keep all of the devices turned off and put away through the entire school day. If a device is seen to be out (including falling out of a pocket or bag), the device will be confiscated with the following consequences.

  • First offense - The device is turned into the office and student may pick-up at the end of the day. Parent will be emailed.
  • Second offense - The device is turned into the office and student may pick-up at the end of the day. Parent will receive a phone call.
  • Third offense - The device is turned into the office, a parent must pick-up the phone, and there is a charge of $15.

At 3:37 p.m. each day, a bell rings, and at that time students may get out and turn on their phones to see if there are any transportation notifications before going home for the day. If you need to get a message to a student, please call the front office or send an email to our message account. Students may always come to the front office to give you a call if there is a message they need to get to a parent.

Thank you for your help and support as we keep students' attention and focus on learning throughout the school day.
