Jennifer Caropepe - Principal
Hi BMS families! I’m Jennifer Caropepe, and I’m incredibly proud to serve as the Principal of Burnet Middle School. With 20 years in education, I’ve spent the majority of my career working with middle schoolers—it’s truly my passion and where I feel most at home. I believe that middle school is a pivotal time for growth, discovery, and connection, and I’m committed to creating a school culture where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.
I’m a Texas Tech graduate (Wreck ‘em!), wife, and proud mom of three daughters. When I’m not on campus, you can usually find me enjoying the outdoors with my family, soaking up sunshine and making memories. I’m excited to lead alongside our incredible staff and build strong partnerships with our students, families, and community. Together, I know we’ll make this a fantastic year at BMS!
Jill Castillo - 8th Grade Assistant Principal
Hi, I’m Jill Castillo, Assistant Principal at Burnet Middle School. After 19 years of teaching in Burnet, I’m honored to now serve as Assistant Principal. I see my role as a bridge connecting students, teachers, families, and staff to create a school culture built on trust, respect, and growth. My goal is to be a steady, positive presence on campus. Whether it’s supporting instruction, partnering with families, or helping students succeed, I lead with heart, fairness, and a deep belief in the power of connection. I’m a proud Texas A&M grad (Gig ‘em and Go Dawgs!), wife, mom of three, grandma, and animal lover. I believe every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and capable, and I’m here to make sure they do.
Timothy Richter - 7th Grade Assistant Principal
Hello, Bulldog Nation,
With a career spanning 29 years in education, I have dedicated my professional life to fostering academic excellence, developing strong school communities, and creating opportunities for student success. My commitment to educational leadership has positively impacted countless students, families, teachers, and staff members throughout my distinguished career.
I look forward to sharing my experiences as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at Burnet Middle School. I will bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and leadership expertise to Burnet Middle School. Throughout nearly three decades in education, I strive to demonstrate a passion for student achievement, instructional excellence, and collaborative school improvement.
One of the most notable accomplishments of my career was serving as Principal of Three Rivers Elementary School that earned the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School designation in the area of “Closing the Gap” in 2022. This recognition is among the highest honors awarded to schools in the United States and reflects a sustained commitment to academic excellence, effective instructional practices, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Beyond my professional achievements, I value family and God as the cornerstone of life. I have been married to my wife, Laura Richter, for 34 years. Together, we have built a strong and loving family centered on faith, commitment, and service to others. My wife was in education for 26 years as well.
We are proud parents of two children: son, Skylair, and younger daughter, Emily. Both children are married and have established families of their own. The Richter family has continued to grow, and we are proud grandparents to three grandchildren who bring great joy and fulfillment to our lives.
Together, we will build a future of “Choose Joy” through a dedication of Spirit, Pride, and Honor!
Kristen Salerno - 6th Grade Assistant Principal
I am proud to serve as an Assistant Principal at Burnet Middle School and even prouder to return home to the district that raised me. As a BCISD graduate, it’s an honor to give back to the community that shaped my values and love for education. I bring experience in both English Language Arts and Special Education, and I believe that all students can learn when we lead with strong relationships and high expectations.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and my master’s in Educational Leadership from Angelo State University. My husband and I have two children, along with two dogs and a cat. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time outdoors with my dogs. I am truly excited to be back and look forward to supporting the students, families, and staff of BMS!
