Jennifer Caropepe - Principal

Hi BMS families! I’m Jennifer Caropepe, and I’m incredibly proud to serve as the Principal of Burnet Middle School. With 20 years in education, I’ve spent the majority of my career working with middle schoolers—it’s truly my passion and where I feel most at home. I believe that middle school is a pivotal time for growth, discovery, and connection, and I’m committed to creating a school culture where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered.

I’m a Texas Tech graduate (Wreck ‘em!), wife, and proud mom of three daughters. When I’m not on campus, you can usually find me enjoying the outdoors with my family, soaking up sunshine and making memories. I’m excited to lead alongside our incredible staff and build strong partnerships with our students, families, and community. Together, I know we’ll make this a fantastic year at BMS!

Jill Castillo - 8th Grade Assistant Principal

Hi, I’m Jill Castillo, Assistant Principal at Burnet Middle School.  After 19 years of teaching in Burnet, I’m honored to now serve as Assistant Principal. I see my role as a bridge connecting students, teachers, families, and staff to create a school culture built on trust, respect, and growth. My goal is to be a steady, positive presence on campus. Whether it’s supporting instruction, partnering with families, or helping students succeed, I lead with heart, fairness, and a deep belief in the power of connection. I’m a proud Texas A&M grad (Gig ‘em and Go Dawgs!), wife, mom of three, grandma, and animal lover. I believe every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and capable, and I’m here to make sure they do.

Kristen Salerno - 7th Grade Assistant Principal

I am proud to serve as an Assistant Principal at Burnet Middle School and even prouder to return home to the district that raised me. As a BCISD graduate, it’s an honor to give back to the community that shaped my values and love for education. I bring experience in both English Language Arts and Special Education, and I believe that all students can learn when we lead with strong relationships and high expectations.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and my master’s in Educational Leadership from Angelo State University. My husband and I have two children, along with two dogs and a cat. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time outdoors with my dogs. I am truly excited to be back and look forward to supporting the students, families, and staff of BMS!

Jeanni Nelson - 6th Grade Assistant Principal

Hello BMS families!  My name is Jeanni Nelson and I am excited to be returning to Burnet Middle School for my 22nd year in education as the 6th grade Assistant Principal.  I am a proud graduate of Burnet High School, and lifetime resident of Burnet.  I received my Bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University in Interdisciplinary Studies, my Master's degree from Texas Tech in Educational Leadership, and School Counselor certification from Angelo State University.  Prior to Burnet Middle School I served as the Counselor at RJ Richey.  While at RJ I also taught 3rd, 4th, 5th grade and served as a Special Education math teacher.

I am passionate about student success and have a desire to help ALL children reach success. My educational philosophy is that every child that walks the halls of our schools deserve the very best support, instruction, and opportunities in order to become successful, all day every day.

I am married to Paul, and have 3 wonderful children; Aspen, Traeton, and Pason.  I enjoy hanging out with family, being outside in the sunshine and watching my kids participate in all the activities they are involved in!

I look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces and families and getting to know the new members of our Burnet community and BMS family!
